This walkthrough assumes zero prior experience with Systeme.io. By the end, you'll have a live funnel with a landing page and a connected email sequence.
Step 1: Create your account
Sign up with your email address and set a password. Systeme.io's free plan lets you complete this entire tutorial without entering payment details, so there's no financial commitment required to learn the platform.
Step 2: Set up your workspace basics
Before building anything, add your business name and, if you have one, connect a custom domain under your account settings. If you don't have a domain yet, you can skip this and use the default Systeme.io subdomain to test - you can always connect a domain later.
Step 3: Create your first funnel
From the dashboard, choose "Create a funnel" and pick a funnel type - for a first funnel, a simple "opt-in funnel" (a landing page that collects an email address in exchange for a lead magnet) is the easiest place to start. Give the funnel a name you'll recognize later.
Step 4: Build your landing page
Inside the funnel, add your first step - the opt-in page - and choose a template close to what you want rather than starting from a blank canvas. Use the drag-and-drop editor to:
- Replace the headline with a specific promise (what the visitor gets, not just "sign up now").
- Swap in your own image or graphic, or remove it if it doesn't add anything.
- Edit the opt-in form's button text to describe the outcome ("Send Me the Guide" beats "Submit").
- Preview on both desktop and mobile before moving on - the majority of your traffic will likely be mobile.
Step 5: Connect a thank-you page
Add a second step to the funnel - a thank-you page that displays after someone opts in. This is a good place to set expectations ("check your inbox in the next few minutes") and, optionally, introduce a low-cost offer.
Step 6: Set up your first email campaign
In the email section, create a new automation triggered by "opted in to [your funnel]." Add at least one email - your lead magnet delivery email - and write a subject line that matches what you promised on the landing page. Keep the first email simple: deliver what you promised, and briefly introduce yourself.
Step 7: Test the whole flow
Before publishing, opt in to your own funnel using a personal email address. Confirm that the thank-you page loads correctly and that your delivery email arrives promptly and looks right on both desktop and mobile email clients.
Step 8: Publish
Once your test passes, publish the funnel. If you connected a custom domain in Step 2, point your funnel to it under the funnel's settings; otherwise your default Systeme.io URL is live and shareable immediately.
Step 9: Drive traffic and iterate
Share your landing page link through whatever channel you already have an audience on - social media, an existing email list, or paid ads once you're ready. Watch your opt-in rate in the funnel's analytics, and don't be afraid to revise the headline or offer if conversions are low; a first draft rarely stays your final version.
That's the complete loop: a page that captures a lead, an email that delivers value, and a system that runs without your manual intervention once it's live. Everything else in Systeme.io - upsells, courses, affiliates - builds on this same basic structure.
