Who we are

What this site is
The Lean Stack publishes free calculators, guides, and reviews related to building an online business. Everything here is for informational and educational purposes only. It is not professional financial, legal, tax, or business advice, and shouldn't be treated as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional who knows your specific situation.
Calculators produce estimates, not guarantees
The tools under /tools are meant to help you think through costs and revenue scenarios. Their output is an estimate based on the numbers you enter and publicly available pricing at the time it was written - it is not a guarantee of what you will pay or earn. Software pricing changes, and actual results from any business or marketing activity depend on far more than a calculator can account for.
Affiliate relationships
Some links on this site are affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you sign up or purchase through them, at no extra cost to you. This is disclosed in full in our affiliate disclosure, and it does not change our editorial opinions.
Advertising and third-party content
This site shows advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense, and contains links to other websites and services. We do not control that third-party content, are not responsible for what advertisers or linked sites say or do, and do not endorse an advertised product just because an ad appears. Ads are separate from our editorial content. Cookies and similar technologies used for ads are described in our privacy policy, and you can change your choice at any time from “Cookie settings” in the footer.
Document and image tools
The invoice, quotation and receipt makers and the image resizer help you prepare documents and files in your browser. You are responsible for checking that what you create is accurate, complete and meets any legal, tax or accounting requirements that apply to you, such as required invoice details or tax rates. They are not legal, tax or accounting advice, and we don't see or store what you enter.
Acceptable use
Use this site lawfully and don't try to disrupt it - for example, by scraping it abusively, attempting to break its security, or using it to distribute malware or spam. Content on this site (text, calculators, guides) is ours or licensed to us; you're welcome to link to it, but don't republish it wholesale without permission.
Your responsibilities and our rights
You are responsible for how you use the information and tools here and for checking current prices and terms with each provider before you buy. We may change, suspend or remove any page, tool or feature at any time, and we may restrict access to anyone who misuses the site. If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
No warranty
This site is provided "as is." We work to keep information accurate and up to date, but we make no guarantees that content, pricing references, or calculator outputs are complete, current, or error-free at any given moment.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Lean Stack and its operators aren't liable for any losses or damages arising from your use of this site or reliance on its content, including decisions made using a calculator, document tool, review or guide, or from advertising or third-party sites shown on or linked from this site.
Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights
Nothing here excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, for example for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and nothing affects the legal rights you have as a consumer where you live.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally. If we do, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
