Etsy Fee Calculator

Etsy's listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee, payment processing, and Offsite Ads all take a bite of every sale. Enter your numbers below to see what you actually keep.

Example: a $30 handmade item

Say you sell an item for $30.00, charge $5.00 for shipping, spend $10.00 making it and $4.00 to ship it. Etsy takes a $0.20 listing fee, a $2.28 transaction fee and $1.30 in processing: $3.78 in total, leaving $17.23 net profit (49% take-home). If that sale came through Offsite Ads at 15%, the ad fee adds $5.25 and net profit falls to $11.98 (34%). Enter your own numbers above to see your real profit.

Methodology

Listing fee = $0.20 × the number of listing fees you enter. Transaction fee = 6.5% × (item price + shipping charged), not charged on sales tax. Payment processing = 3% × (item price + shipping + assumed sales tax) + $0.25. Offsite Ads fee = 15% (12% at $10,000+ trailing-year sales) × (item price + shipping), capped at $100 per sale, and $0 unless you turn it on. Net profit = item price + shipping charged − item cost − shipping cost to you − Etsy fees total. Take-home % = net profit ÷ (item price + shipping charged). For digital items, shipping is set to zero.

Frequently asked questions

What fees does Etsy charge a US seller?
As of October 2026, Etsy's Fees & Payments Policy lists a $0.20 listing fee per listing, a 6.5% transaction fee, and 3% + $0.25 payment processing on each order. Offsite Ads fees apply only when a sale is attributed to an Etsy ad, and Etsy Ads (on-site) are pay-per-click on top of that. This calculator models the first four and leaves Etsy Ads out.
What is the transaction fee charged on?
The 6.5% transaction fee applies to the item price plus the shipping and gift wrap you charge the buyer. For US sellers it does not apply to sales tax. If you charge extra for personalization, that amount is part of the displayed price and is charged the same way.
What is the payment processing fee charged on?
The 3% + $0.25 processing fee is charged on the gross order total, including shipping and sales tax. That is why the assumed sales tax field affects this fee but not the transaction fee.
How do Offsite Ads fees work, and what is the $100 cap?
If a buyer clicks one of Etsy's off-Etsy ads and orders from your shop within 30 days, Etsy charges 15% of the order total (item price plus shipping, not US sales tax). Shops with under $10,000 in sales over the prior 365 days can opt out. Once a shop reaches $10,000 the rate drops to 12%, participation is required, and the rate stays 12% for the life of the shop. The fee on any single order is capped at $100. If the buyer's last click was an Etsy Ad, only the Etsy Ads fee applies.
Do digital downloads pay different Etsy fees?
Not according to Etsy's fee pages: digital items pay the same listing fee, transaction fee, processing fee and Offsite Ads fee as physical ones. The digital toggle simply sets shipping to zero. Etsy also collects and remits VAT or sales tax on some digital sales to buyers in certain places, which the calculator does not model.
How does the listing fee work if I list multiple quantities?
A listing lasts four months or until it sells. If you list several of the same item, the listing renews at $0.20 after each one sells, and extra units sold in a single order are charged $0.20 each. The listing fees field lets you enter how many $0.20 fees to count against this sale. Listing fees are charged whether or not the item sells, and service fees are non-refundable.
What does this calculator leave out?
Etsy Ads (pay-per-click, with a daily budget you set), currency conversion (2.5% when your listing currency differs from your payment account currency), the Etsy Plus subscription, Share & Save discounts, any shop set-up fee, instant-transfer fees, sales tax Etsy may apply to its own fees in some states, and refunds or cancellations. We could not verify how discounts affect the transaction fee base, so enter your final displayed price.
